Lessons at Southside Guitar School are fully structured and graded with progress being monitored through checklists that clearly define goals.
All our lessons are tailored to each individual student depending on their age and ability, covering all styles of music, so whether you want to just play your favourite songs or you want to progress through to tertiary entrance standard, Southside Guitar School can accommodate your needs.
We have several courses available that are designed to cater for students of all ages and skill levels. The children’s program is grouped into 3 categories and the ages indicated are a guideline only.

Young Beginner Course :
The Young Beginner Course is designed for children between the age of 4 and 8 years old. With an emphasis on making music fun, students are introduced to the basics of music and note recognition. Using a variety of visual and rhythmic techniques and simple tunes the young students take their first steps into the world of music.

The Junior Course :
The Junior Course is designed for children between the age of 8 and 13 years old. Students get to explore the 7 Essential Skills of Guitar and work their way through the program while also learning songs of their choice.

The Senior Course:
The Senior Course is designed for students 13 years and over and is a continuation of the Junior Course with the level of difficulty of songs, lessons and exercises turned up a couple of notches.
On completion of the Senior Course the student is now ready to take on the AMEB courses. Southside Guitar School is proud to have a 100% student pass rate in AMEB exams.

Parents of children are encouraged to sit in on lessons. We find the participation of parents, especially of young children, is beneficial to the progress of the student.

Adult lessons will be personalised to each student, so whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced player, our teachers will deliver the information you need to reach your goals.
